Hallo and welcome to my website. My name is Jan Růžička, I'm a puppeter and woodcarver. You can check my work, puppets, marionettes carved in a traditional way from linden wood, painted with oil or temper colors and impregnated with beeswax. Small and simple marionettes or sophisticated for professional actors. Puppetry has a very long tradition in Bohemia. For Austria-Hungary, drama was subject to many restrictions, while the overlooked puppet performances became a widely popular entertainment, where the the authorities didn’t pay so close attention. In 2016, Czech puppetry was included in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.
